Crystal Onyx Cave & Campground

8709 Happy Valley Road
Cave City Kentucky, 42127
Phone: (270) 773-2359 After years of searching, and with a deep conviction that a cave was there on Pruitts Knob, Cleon Turner entered what became Crystal Onyx Cave on June 23, 1960. Turners persistent search to find an entrance succeeded even though attempts had been made since the early 1930s. In June of 1960, Turner and a friend found a promising spot on the side of the Knob and, after several days of digging with shovels, Turner dynamited an entrance. He found beautiful formations, cave bacon, rimstone, stalactites and stalagmites. Soon after that, Crystal Onyx Cave, acknowledged by "cavers" as one of the most beautiful in the cave country, was opened for tours.Located on the side of Pruitts Knob is Crystal Onyx Cave Campground, a wooded camping area that is 300 ft. above the valley and Cave City. Our sites are so well shaded that you practically have to look for sunny spots if you want to get a tan! Whether youre sporting a tent or a full size recreational vehicle, we have a place for you and all the amenities you want - or dont want. Serenity is sitting on a high spot and watching the world go by below you. We offer serenity from the overlook in the Campground, looking over the farmlands and the small town of Cave City. Just sit and enjoy the view - and the serenity. The picture shown here was taken from our campground

Jellystone Park Camp- Resort

1002 Mammoth Cave Road
Cave City Kentucky, 42127
Phone: (270) 773-3840, 1-800-523-1854 Attracting hundreds of thousands of tourists annually, Mammoth Cave and the land above it was designated a National Park by the federal government in 1941. It is the longest known cave system in the world with over 350 miles of passageways and underground river systems. In 1981, the area became a World Heritage Site and was designated an International Biosphere Reserve by the United Nations in 1990 because of its unique environment and ecology. In many ways, Mammoth Cave National Park is really two parks in one with the serenity and solitude of the caves below ground and the rugged beauty of over 80 square miles of forests, wildlife, rivers, and trails above. Check with our Reservation Desk for information on cave tours and schedules along with information on "surface" recreational and educational programs offered by the U.S. Park Service. Wigwam Village #2

601 North Dixie Hwy
Cave City Kentucky, 42127
Phone: (270) 773-3381 Wigwam Village #2 is the most unique motel in all of Kentucky. It celebrated 60 years of colorful history in 1997, and staying there will be an experience you will never forget. Wigwam Village #2 was completed in 1937 in Cave City, and five more were built over time in Alabama, Florida, New Orleans, California, and Arizona. From the beginning, the Wigwam Villages were gathering places with an atmosphere of old-time neighborliness. The community area at the center of the circle of wigwams seemed to invite people to come and talk. Nowadays, our playground at the center of the teepees invites young folks to play and our new 16x16 "Misting Deck" is a great way to cool off on a hot summer day - regardless of your age Of the seven original Wigwam Villages, only two remain: #2 in Cave City and #6 in Holbrook, Arizona. Wigwam Village #7 in California is still standing, but in very poor condition. Wigwam Village #2 is an impressive sight and is truly a monument to one man?s American dream that came true. The main building, made up of 38 tons of concrete and 13 tons of steel, stands 52 feet high.
