Fishing, boating & sailing are major pasttimes on Lake Pend Oreille. Presently, Lake Pend Oreille is known world wide for record size kamloop trout and mackinaw. The best place to still catch them is in the deep water at the southern, or Bayview, end of the lake. The lake also has bass and perch in the north shallower waters of the lake. Cutthroat trout are scattered through the entire lake system, but especially concentrated around the many creeks flowing into the lake.
