Salome is a quiet rural community that expands from 500 people in the summer to about 4,000 people in the winter, most of whom are retired snowbird visitors. Salome is slowly growing with most development near the center of town zoned "RV Subdivision" which will preserve the area as a haven for snowbird retirees for the foreseeable future. The areas winter population is expected to increase at a moderate rate as developers slowly increase the deeded lots available for purchase.
Desert Palms is a Quality RV Resort at a Reasonable Rate and the nicest RV resort within a hundred miles of Salome. A 9-hole green-grass "Pitch & Putt" golf course is free to residents. A reasonably-priced regulation sized 18-hole green-grass golf course shares a common boundary with Desert Palms so tenants can walk from their site to the first tee from anywhere in the Resort. More than 50% of our residents do not play golf and enjoy their stay at Desert Palms. We have a pool and spa that are both heated during the winter. Our attractively graveled back-ins are 40 x 55 with a 7 x 21 cement pad. Three dozen of our back-ins are 48" x 55. Most pull-throughs can accommodate rigs as long as 60. We cater to over-55 winter visitors, but consider younger tenants on a short term basis.
There are five restaurants, three garages, four churches, three country store markets, and three hardware stores within 15 minutes of Salome. We do not try to compete with any of these services that are provided elsewhere in the community. Supermarket shopping is 50 miles away in either Wickenburg or Parker. Big box stores are 70 miles away in Avondale. Tenants enjoy going to the "big city," but they also enjoy returning to the haven of Salome.
We have an active social program that is growing as more people choose to spend their winters at Desert Palms. Our hikers and four-wheelers have lots of BLM land to explore.
